The Light Warriors rose up against the tyranny of the ruling classes and the corruption of self-serving priests during the Age of Kings. 13 noble knights that questioned the required and undying loyalty to increasingly corrupt knight guilds banned together in secret to form The Light Warrior Council, which would direct the operations of The Light Warriors for centuries, as well as the Sisters of Light who would later join the council as equals in a time of men and as a balancing force in the fight against evil plaguing the world.
The Order of the Light Warrior has been handed down from father to son over the centuries. Likewise, the Sisterhood of Light has been handed down from mother to daughter. If no suitable offspring is to be had, a series of apprentices are chosen carefully to ensure the Order or Sisterhood survive and continue onto the next generation. For roughly a thousand years, the core values upheld by the Light Warrior Council have remained untainted by the whims of men, even while the technologies, gender roles, and social structures have changed and improved over time. For they were centuries ahead of the world in thought and deed.
During the industrial and knowledge revolutions of the 19th 20th and 21st centuries, and when possible, they reserved the best emerging technologies secretly for themselves because kings, presidents and various world leaders have never shown that they can be trusted to reign over such technologies in peace once such power has been seized or withheld from a civilization. Only those with a pure heart and loyalty to the preserving the agency of others can be trusted with such power and technologies. That is until now.
With power also comes temptations. This is the natural course of human nature. With great power come even greater temptations. And great is the struggle within Light Warriors to stay on their path when they wield mighty powers and responsibilities. But should one lose the battle within and that balance of light ... they can ultimately lose their soul and bring pain and suffering to thousands upon thousand of people around them. And few there be that return from such a darkening of the soul.
